How does it work?

A key part of our expertise lies in converting the technical jargon into a form that satisfies the HMRC Inspectors. Our service is quick and efficient and requires minimal input from our partners and most claims can be completed in one meeting.

Our typical process

Option 1
We can review your client list with you to enable you to draw a list of all those clients that you think could be eligible for an R&D tax claim. You can then contact them to highlight the potential opportunity available to them. This can be done on a one to one basis, or we will provide everything you need to market the service to your client.

All partner firms have access to our unique marketing platform, giving you access to a wealth of images, content and templates to enable you to create bespoke e-shots, newsletters and promotional material in a matter of minutes; all fully white labelled under your own brand.  

We would then recommend a conference call with both your client and an R&D specialist where we will quickly establish their eligibility and arrange our first meeting with them. The call comes from you and we are seen to be very much part of your team.

Option 2
You refer your client to Abbey Tax by filling out our pre-qualification questionnaire. We will then contact your client to establish their eligibility and arrange a suitable time to visit their premises.

We send a specialist R&D tax adviser, with relevant experience in your client’s industry, to attend the site and perform a detailed review and analysis of their R&D activities and costs. The average meeting time is 3 hours.

We prepare HMRC friendly documentation and liaise personally with the specialist R&D units. This does not affect your submission process with your client. We are simply dealing with the R&D element only. If the claim is a current year claim, we will send you a figure of qualifying R&D expenditure to input into the tax computation. If the claim represents an amendment to prior year Corporation Tax computations we will liaise directly with the HMRC specialist R&D unit to make the necessary changes. We will keep you fully informed of any amendments.

We contact HMRC to ensure they have received the documentation. HMRC contact us on an informal basis with any questions and agree the claim.

We require no payment with the application and fees only become chargeable if we are able to generate a cash repayment or saving. We are flexible about fees and we are happy to have a discussion with you and/or your client should you prefer an alternative arrangement.
