Comprehensive support

Inception of an Abbey Tax Fee Protection Scheme provides practices with unparalleled access to our consultancy department and its advice.  Practices are encouraged to discuss any contentious Tax & VAT issue through this complimentary service, available to all our clients throughout the year.

With collective experience combining ex-Revenue and ex-Customs with general practice experience and a clear understanding of the rigorous constraints facing practitioners, our consultancy develops flexible, realistic advice for practices.  With a team currently comprising of 15 advisors of which 7 are ex-Inspectors, you are guaranteed to have access to a specialist within the field of expertise you desire.

Whilst over 1200 firms currently have access to our advice, we also provide this service to a number of trade associations and federations including supporting 5 LexisNexis publications such as Simons and DeVoils, resulting in extremely diverse experiences ranging from queries on tax and national insurance payable on salaries through to complex capital gains tax questions.

Queries generally reflect current legislative issues and our advice is regularly translated into articles for our Wasp newsletter so that our entire client base can benefit from our successful negotiations.

Diverse experience

Our team is headed by our Consultancy Manager David Marples and your adviser will be based upon your specific requirements but first point of contact will be our tax advisors who, supported by our extensive electronic library, deal with queries not related to investigations.

The rest of the team are located throughout the UK so you can be assured of personal contact with an advisor if required.  Queries of a tactical nature are referred to our consultants, some of whom also have experience of SCO enquiries, who are in the office on a rotational basis as the majority of their time is spent running cases on behalf of our affinity group schemes and occasionally in conjunction with or on behalf of our accountancy clients.

Although many of the consultants are Midlands based-perfectly situated to travel throughout the UK-we have ex-Inspectors based in South Devon, Scotland, Grimsby, the Home Counties and East Anglia.  Our experience includes SCO, PAYE, IR35 and contentious Tax & VAT with extensive experience of both sides of the fence providing you with incomparable knowledge and expertise.

With our team spread throughout the UK and through the feedback we actively encourage from our clients, we are in a unique position to identify and monitor regional and national trends as they develop.  By contributions at various District Society meetings and other events, including programmes developed by the ACCA and the SWAT Training Group, and through our quarterly newsletter, we are able to share our valuable experiences with the growing accountancy market and continue to provide the specific knowledge and support practices require.

Please call 0870 166 6270 if you would like more information regarding our consultancy services.
